Join us at the Jessamine County Fair July 8-13!

Horse and Goat Shows…a Garden Tractor Show…a Greased Pig Contest…a Baby Show…a Remote Control Car and Truck Show, and more.  Wow.  Where else but a county fair can you find that kind of entertainment and fun—all in one place?

The Jessamine County Fair has it all…plus the kind of carnival rides and oh-so-good fair food (that's right--think cotton candy and funnel cakes) that you just can’t stop yourself from eating.  And, to top it all off, plan to enjoy the sounds of Music City Brass as you stroll through the Jessamine County Fairgrounds July 8-13.

Fair admission is $10 (children 2 years and under are free).  Visit www.jessaminefair.com for more info—and if you’re in the MOOOOD for fun (think “moo-d” as in cow, because of course there will be farm animals—this is the FAIR that we’re talking about!), join us!

Summer evenings, beautiful music, and the great outdoors.  How can you improve on that?  Make it free, of course!

If one of your favorite things to do in the summertime is to listen to music in an idyllic outdoor setting on a beautiful summer night, then we have not one, not two, but THREE great options for you--and each of them are available at no cost!

Here's the scoop:  Gospel on the Green and Stonebridge Concert Series are both held in Wilmore’s Downtown Green (Gospel on the Green is on Friday evenings/Stonebridge is on Saturdays) in July and August (no Stonebridge Concert during Highbridge Homecoming Festival, though!).   Enjoy the tables and chairs provided for you under the park's charming pavilion, bring your own chairs, or spread a blanket on the lawn--whatever suits your fancy.  You may also bring picnic baskets or enjoy the snacks, non-alcoholic drinks and light dinner menus provided by local vendors.  For more info, visit www.wilmore.org.

The Rock Fence Park Concert Series is held at Rock Fence Park in Nicholasville and offers a variety of musical styles.  Bring your chairs/blankets and and picnic baskets.  For more info on the Rock Fence Park Concert Series, visit www.njcpr.org.

You'll also find more info about Jessamine County events at www.destinationjessamine.com

And...as always...Enjoy!

Horses, walking and riding trails, and more horses. All at the Asbury Equine Center in Wilmore, Kentucky!

We know a place where you can...hike along one of the most gorgeous nature walking trails in the area (open year-round), and/or take a guided riding tour of 6 miles of trails or simply visit with some beautiful and well-cared for horses.  That place is the Asbury Equine Center, located on Shanty Hill Road just outside Wilmore, Kentucky.

At one point while hiking or riding, you'll find yourself approximately 400 feet above the Kentucky River, gazing down at one of the most beautiful views in the world--the spectacular Kentucky River Palisades.

Once you go, please feel free to share your photos (Really--when we used the words "gorgeous," "beautiful," and "spectacular" earlier, we weren't kidding.  Take your camera!) by emailing them to mcclure.rhc@gmail.com.  You might even see them on one of our blog posts--or even in some future Destination Jessamine (Jessamine County's tourism organization) advertising!

For more information about the Asbury Equine Center, visit www.asbury.edu.  Enter "Asbury Equine Center" in the search box, or simply click here:  http://www.asbury.edu/academics/departments/hper/equine-center
